“Invade" is situated in front of a large expanse of floor-to-ceiling glass windows, asserting its presence with an erect and winding posture that supports the scale of the space. Created on-site, the artwork seamlessly integrates into the architectural structure, extending into the interior, blurring the boundaries between inside and outside. Combined with the 2020 piece “Awakening," the installation utilizes programmed control to make the seemingly organic branch forms strike the windows, creating a subtle disturbance in the tranquil exhibition space. This prompts observers to scrutinize their immediate surroundings, searching for the origin of this disruption. Simultaneously, it induces resonance within the architectural space, further obscuring the boundaries between the artwork and its environment. This serendipitous experience aims to recreate the artist’s perception of being disturbed one evening at a temporary residence by the sound of branches tapping on the windows. The installation seeks to capture the unsettling and mysterious atmosphere when unknown elements from nature approach unexpectedly. The extensive bamboo grove outside the floor-to-ceiling windows is also brought into the interior space and beyond the architecture. Employing 3D scans of plants, the artist strips away the original image material, replacing it with reflective surfaces that mirror uploaded online images. Various hues and forms from the environment are extracted and incorporated into the artwork, fusing it with the surroundings.
