異域

Uncanny Field 2017

In the multidimensional era of the internet, relationships, time, space, and identity interweave into fluid and shifting layers. The constraints of time and distance dissolve, while the boundaries between the virtual and the real gradually blur. Personal consciousness extends through the intricate web of information, yet at the same time, it is fragmented and reconstructed, drawing us deeper into digital existence. Sometimes, as I gaze at people in the physical world, their presence becomes increasingly blurred and fractured until only a hollow shell remains.

During the early stages of this project, I visited the homes of close relatives and friends with whom I have long maintained relationships primarily through online interactions. Using 3D scanning technology, I documented their daily living spaces, deliberately introducing irregular voids and blurriness through arbitrary camera movements—an attempt to capture the instability and rupture of perception. These fragmented 3D models were then placed within a reconstructed virtual space, where a virtual camera navigates through them, exploring whether, in the rapid evolution of the internet and technology, we have truly gained more—or if, at the same time, we are gradually becoming increasingly incomplete.
